The place Karnabrunn is a cadastral community of Großrußbach in the district of Korneuburg/NÖ. Karnabrunn is located on the B6-Laaerstrasse, about 16 km northeast of Korneuburg in the middle of Weinviertel. In a heavily wooded, slightly undulating terrain on one of the most important north-south connections - the Bernsteinstrasse. Documented circular systems and finds from the Bronze Age are signs of early settlement. The oldest spellings of the place are Cherneprunne, Chaernerprunne and similar. At the end of the 12th century, a Castrum de Charnerprunne was already mentioned. The construction of the castle is documented with 1140. In the eventful history of the castle, ownership extended from Hetzmannsdorf to Seebarn during its heyday. In the 17th century, a new owner arrived with Count Julius Friedrich Buccelini. During his time, the complex was expanded in Baroque style. After being spared from the plague, he built today's pilgrimage church. It was consecrated to the Holy Trinity in 1686. Fifty years later, the avenue was planted. Over a length of 200 meters, 104 massive sandstone steps with six stone figures lead to the church (the Flysch sandstone comes from the quarry next to the church). The count also had the rectory, baroque stables and farmyard for his servants built. From 1996 to 2012, all these cultural monuments were restored or renovated with funds from the Karnabrunn Cultural Association, Lower Austrian State Government and Village Renewal, Grossrussbach Market Town and intensive help from the entire village population. Karnabrunn is rated by its population as an attractive, romantic and active place with a favorable location and proximity to forests. The place currently has about 370 inhabitants. #1 Pilgrimage Church of the Holy Trinity: Built 1684-1686; interior renovation in 2010 with a new people’s altar containing the relics of St. Leopold, St. Rosalia, and St. James; stations on the Weinviertel Jakobsweg. The sacred treasury, church museum, was opened in 2022. Tours or visits are only possible by appointment with Dr. Roch or J. Hasch.
#2 Baroque Pilgrimage Staircase with Linden Avenue: Built around 1738/39; 104 steps. Six sandstone figures of St. John of Nepomuk, St. Joseph with the Child Jesus, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Catherine, St. Francis Xavier8. Renovated in 2005; replanting of the avenue with funds from the Lower Austrian village renewal and the Karnabrunn Cultural Association.
#3 Karnabrunn Castle: Built around 1140; today’s facade from the second half of the 19th century. Not publicly accessible.
#4 Village Fountain: Redesigned in 2002 with funds from the Lower Austrian village renewal and the Karnabrunn Cultural Association.
#5 Cellar Lane: In recent years, it has been significantly upgraded and has become part of the Weinviertel Jakobsweg. Its total length is approximately 250 meters.
#6 To the Vineyards of Karnabrunn Benzengraben and Oelbergen “Hiatahütte”: Shelter for the vineyard guards. Renovated with funds from the Lower Austrian village renewal and the Karnabrunn Cultural Association.
#7 Kaiser Franz Josef Station: Built in 1904 on the Korneuburg-Ernstbrunn-Mistelbach line (setting for world-famous films).
#8 Manor House: Built on medieval foundations. First mentioned in the 17th century, former servant house of the estate administration, today owned by the municipality, the volunteer fire department, and the cultural association.
#9 Biotope: Popular meeting place, event, and recreation area.
#10 Natural Stone Block with Seating Area and Information Board: Built in 2011 with funds from the Lower Austrian village renewal and the Karnabrunn Cultural Association, symbol for the 14 Holy Helpers.
#12 Rectory: Built in 1686.

#24 Rider’s Martyr: Built in 1995 in Carinthian style, donated by Mrs. Liesl Funder-Koreska. Planned and designed by master stonemason Josef Hasch, executed in Ernstbrunner limestone.
#25 Holiday Picture on the Castle Wall (on the Jakobsweg): Built by the “Merciful” pilgrims.
#26 Cemetery with Baroque Crypt Chapel: Built around 1780 (redesigned around 1820) resting place of the Counts Hacque and Bolza. Renovated in 2002 and 2003 with funds from the Lower Austrian village renewal and the Karnabrunn Cultural Association.
#27 Zeller Picture: Built in 1903 in place of a nearby picture oak. Former meeting point of pilgrims for the pilgrimage to Mariazell. Renovated in 2012 by Anna Schwarzenberger.
#29 The Cycle Path: Without effort from Karnabrunn station, along the Karnabrunn ditch, to Weinsteig and further. A total of about 50 km long cycle path through the Weinviertel.
